Exchange NFTs for Miles with Etihad Airways’ Horizon Club Web3 Loyalty Program
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will release a 300-piece addition to its EY-ZERO1 collection. This expansion promises holders a range of new benefits, including Etihad Guest Silver Tier status, priority check-in, lounge access and the ability to use assets to earn miles.
The limited edition, which will be released on August 1st, is the 11th 3D model to be added to the NFT collection of EY-ZERO1. It was first released in July 2022. The new NFTs are designed to look like the Mission: Impossible-branded Boeing 787 Dreamliner unveiled during a promotional tour for the recently released film, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
The original EY Zero1 collection offered holders exclusive benefits such as Etihad Silver Tier status for one year and an invitation to an NFT holders’ event at the Formula 1 race at Yas Marina Circuit. The new collection includes a longer list of digital and physical rewards, including Etihad Silver Tier status for one year, priority check-in and 25% more Etihad Guest Miles earned. It also offers lounge access at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Etihad Virtual Club membership and a faster route to upgrade from Silver tier to Gold tier.
Etihad will launch its Web3 loyalty program called ‘Horizon Club’ in September. A miles usage program will also be introduced, allowing members to secure their NFTs and earn Etihad Guest Miles. Miles earned can be redeemed for flights, upgrades and more.
The new NFTs have been created in collaboration with Arcube, a real asset tokenization company that has become an Official Web3 Partner of Etihad Airways. Crossmint, an infrastructure company, facilitates cryptocurrency or credit card payments.
Etihad is the newest airline as Web3 loyalty programs become more popular. Flybondi, an Argentine low-cost airline, expanded its partnership with NFT ticketing company TravelX in March. All tickets are now offered as NFTs via the Algorand blockchain. TravelX has partnered with Spanish airline Air Europa to launch NFT tickets, which come with events and perks, in April 2022. In June, Japan’s largest airline group All Nippon Airways launched an NFT marketplace to expand its Web3 strategy. This includes the integration of passengers’ flight history into their digital avatars.
